Our Emblem
The College Emblem is designed representing the ethical and cultural background of Madurai City. Gopuram represents the city of Temples, Madurai. Arulmigu Meenakshi Amman is the deity of Madurai and she represents Mangayarkarasi Institutions. Lotus symbolizes love, Ahal vilakku knowledge and Gopura Kalasam - the spiritual wisdom.
Lotus with sweet nectar represents the heart filled with love. Its rosy petals denote arul, the embracing compassion for all humans. Lotus is depicted by Hindu ethics as the seat of Saraswathi, the goddess of wisdom and Lakshmi, the goddess of Wealth. This signifies that both wisdom and wealth achieved with the love for all human beings, will be meaningful.
Ahal Vilakku represents knowledge. Education makes one, self-reliant and service-minded. The flame represents knowledge and further it lits up knowledge among the students. Hence it represents self-reliant service, achieved through education is strengthened by love. Moreover real education will lead one to discriminate good from bad things.
Mangayarkarasi is the .queen of the Hindu Pandia King Nedumaran who embraced Jainism later. With her selfless love and service to her husband, her deep devotion to her religion and dutiful consciousness for her people, she brought the King back to Saivism. When a king becomes selfish in any of his motives and in his actions, the entire Country suffers. She made him realise that and in consequence he atoned for his mistakes. Hence her people held her in high esteem and she was praised as "Mongayarkku Arasi". Saint Thirugnana Sambandhar in one of his verses, sang her praise so high that he placed even Madurai second to her in status. His Thevaram says that even Alavai (Madurai) has become great and reknown only because of the existence of Mangayarkarasi in Madurai.
Meenakshi Amman is an Incarnation of Sakthi and the first Mangayarkarasi. She ruled over Madurai and won the hearts of her people.
Our institution is named after these two Mangayarkarasi. When a girl with a loving heart, achieves proper wisdom through education and becomes self-reliant and service motivated then she will be placed in the highest pedestal as "Mangayarkarasi" by the society. That is 'our motto'.
